Mark and I first saw each other at a friends house in March
2004. I say saw, because we didn’t talk at all. I saw him come into the room
and he seemed like a “punk” and a guy who was too good for anyone… sorry Mark!
We hung out with the same general group of friends but I didn’t see him again
until January 2005 when a mutual friend called me and invited my friend Ashlee
and I to go to Marks house to watch a movie with him and Mark. Can we say this
hangout was strike two for Mark?! The movie they picked out was “The Burbs” and
I don’t know if you’ve watched that, but not exactly a movie to get your
“cuddle on”! To top it off, they took us to eat at Betos… YUCK! Needless to
say, I was excited for that night to be over!
A few months later, in April, I received a text that said
“Hi”. I didn’t know who the text was from so I asked who it was and he replied
“Mark”. Well thanks, that cleared the air haha. I was still confused on who it
was until he finally said “Andrews friend Mark” and then proceeds to text pick
up lines like “Is your dad a baker because you have some nice buns”… I wish I
could remember them all. Some were funny and some lame but it got my attention!
We met up end of April at a country dance thing and had our first date shortly
after.
Okay you ready for strike 3?! On our first date, we went to
dinner… this time Italian so that was a plus! We sat down, placed our order and
while sipping his coke he says “My girlfriend comes home tomorrow.” WHAT???
Well that’s a nice way to start our date! I had NO idea he had a girlfriend. He
proceeds to tell me she had been studying a broad for the past 3 months. He had
realized in that time that it just wasn’t going to work with them and he was
ending it. Well long story short, I took a step back and decided I would wait
to see what happened. We saw each other once or twice in May and then June came
and we hit the ground running.
About 2 weeks in, I knew he was the one. I had been in a few
serious long term relationships before, one being 5 years and never fell this
hard this fast… He was sooo dreamy! HaHa, but seriously he was different and I
just knew. Well July came and he stopped calling as much. We stopped
hanging out all together. We weren’t
dating exclusively so I figured maybe he started dating someone else and had
more interest in her. Maybe he wasn’t the one. I remember thinking long and
hard and deciding one day that I was done… No more waiting to see what would
happen. I didn’t tell him or anyone, but
I was moving on. That afternoon my phone rang, it was Mark. He called to
see how things were and asked if I would come over so we could talk. I went
over that night and we talked. He said that he was sorry for how things were in
July. He had just got out of a relationship and his friends urged him to be
“single and mingle”. He then said that wasn’t what he wanted… He wanted to pick
up where we left off, and that we did!
We dated and after a few short weeks we knew this was meant
to last forever. We were married November 2, 2005 in Draper, Utah and went to
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on our honeymoon.
And that’s where our story begins…

Haha, his pick up lines make me laugh. What a dork! So glad he married you and you get to be my sister now!!
